2 June 2013
Experienced construction lawyer Nathan Abbott has joined the construction law team in the Melbourne office of Colin Biggers & Paisley. He brings with him years of experience acquired in construction and major project work in national and international law firms.

Nathan has acted on construction disputes in all Australian jurisdictions. He also works in the non-contentious areas of construction law, providing advice and drafting and negotiating contracts on behalf of his clients.

The projects Nathan has worked on include office buildings, sporting complexes, large residential developments, freight distribution facilities, food processing facilities and port and airport redevelopments.

"For me, having the chance to help develop CBP's construction practice in Melbourne was too good an opportunity to miss", said Nathan. "CBP has historically made construction law a priority. The firm is highly regarded and it has good relationships within the sector. Expanding the construction team's reach within the Melbourne market is a challenge I relish."

Managing partner Dunstan de Souza explained the rationale behind the new appointment: "Since our entry into the Melbourne legal market, we've been keen to boost the capabilities of our Melbourne office in particular areas, so that they match our traditional fields of expertise. Construction is a vital practice area for us and we were determined that the skills within the Sydney office be mirrored in Melbourne.

"Nathan's distinguished background as both an advisor and a litigator makes him ideally suited for our team."
