After 20 years as a partner in one of Australia's leading specialist insolvency and restructuring firms, Scott joined Colin Biggers & Paisley as a partner in 2012. He is one of Australia's leading insolvency and restructuring lawyers and is consistently recognised in legal directories, including Best Lawyers, Doyle's Guide, Who's Who Legal and Chambers and Partners for insolvency and restructuring.

Scott advises on all aspects of restructuring and insolvency, from both a contentious and non-contentious perspective. He regularly advises on and, when necessary, enforce securities on behalf of financial institutions and lending syndicates.

Scott also has experience in commercial dispute resolution and has conducted substantial commercial litigation across all Australian jurisdictions. Scott's practice focuses on alternative dispute resolution and as a trained mediator, he has acted for parties in many complex commercial mediations and expert determinations.

His clients include many of the leading insolvency and restructuring firms in Australia, a number of Australian and US-based banks and financial institutions, several multinational manufacturing, construction and property development companies, and a number of Australian universities.

Scott is a member of the Law Council of Australia's Insolvency and Reconstruction Sub-Committee (former deputy chair), the Australian Restructuring, Insolvency and Turnaround Association, the Turnaround Management Association of Australia, the Banking and Financial Services Law Association and Commercial Lawyers Association, and INSOL (International Association of Restructuring, Insolvency & Bankruptcy Professionals).

He is listed as a key individual in Chambers and Partners - Restructuring/Insolvency. He has been listed as a leading insolvency and litigation lawyer in Best Lawyers in Australia each year since it was first published in 2008. Scott has also been listed in Who's Who Legal: Restructuring & Insolvency each year since 2012. In 2018, 2019, 2022 and 2023 he was recognised in Doyle's Guide as a leading insolvency and restructuring lawyer.

Scott holds a Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Laws and Master of Laws. He was admitted to practice in NSW in 1985.
