Lawyers and staff dedicate their final hour of work to ending violence against women and raise $12,650 for the Women's Legal Service

22 December 2017
Staff at Colin Biggers & Paisley have dedicated their last working hour of 2017 to the benefit of women and children escaping family violence.

$12,650 was raised for the Women's Legal Service in New South Wales, Queensland, Far North Queensland and Victoria after staff donated their final working hour's wage.

The Colin Biggers & Paisley Foundation has a core focus on promoting and protecting the rights of women and children in Australia. We view violence against women as one of the most pressing issues facing our community.
  • One in three Australian women has experienced physical violence, since the age of 15.
  • On average, at least one woman a week is killed by a partner or former partner in Australia.
Colin Biggers & Paisley Managing Partner Nick Crennan said he is proud of the Foundation's ongoing support for the Women's Legal Service.

"I am delighted that so many of our staff are passionate about ending violence against women. Their generous donations, matched by the Foundation, will provide much needed funds to the Women's Legal Service."

This latest effort by staff follows the successful Women's Legal Breakfast in Melbourne. In November 2017 the Colin Biggers & Paisley Foundation, in partnership with the Women's Legal Service Victoria, hosted the Inaugural Women's Legal Breakfast in recognition of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. The breakfast brought together the Melbourne legal profession to raise over $10,000 for the Women's Legal Service Victoria.
