Leading mid-size law practice Colin Biggers & Paisley has appointed Sam Sofianos as its new Chief Information Officer to lead the practice's $20 million IT Transformation project and help drive the practice's innovation strategy.

Sam, who started with the practice this month, said he was excited to be joining Colin Biggers & Paisley during a period of growth and change.

"This is an incredible opportunity to utilise technology to create change that not only benefits our staff and practice, but our clients as well. We are keen to engage with our clients and others in the market to make this project a central part of our competitive advantage over the next decade," said Sam.

Sam is a highly regarded information technology expert, with a career spanning over 20 years in the Australian professional services and IT sectors. He has driven technological change and innovation programs and projects in leading professional services firms. Most recently, he was CIO at Lander & Rogers and is a National Board Director for the Australasian Legal Practice Management Association.

Managing Partner Nick Crennan said his appointment comes at a time of significant investment in technology and innovation in the practice.

"Our three year, $20 million IT Transformation project will deliver new platforms and enhanced flexibility and mobility for our people and our clients," Nick said.

Colin Biggers & Paisley is widely recognised for innovation, particularly for its online property contract exchange platform, CBP Exchange, which was developed in-house.

"We encourage our people to be innovative, to re-think the status-quo and create simple ideas to complex problems. Our 2018 Innovation Challenge did just this and now we will invest in the winner's idea and develop it through prototyping and best practice."
