Leading national legal practice Colin Biggers & Paisley is pleased to announce the appointment of partner Connie Chen who has joined their corporate and commercial team, as well their China Practice, based in Sydney.
Established in 2013, the China Practice acts for foreign enterprises doing business in Australia, as well as foreign companies doing business in China. During the past five years the practice has assisted local and international clients with complex and sizeable projects as well as provided tailored advice on select matters.
Connie's appointment significantly enhances the range of services the practice already delivers. She has more than 20 years' experience in international and domestic M&A transactions, including acquisition and disposal of business and assets, joint ventures, due diligence and structuring advice.
Connie has particular experience managing the acquisition and disposal of container terminal portfolios, having worked on over 45 ports and terminals projects in Australia, China and in other parts of the world.
Connie is a fluent Mandarin speaker and has extensive expertise in drafting and negotiating legal documents in Chinese. Having practised in Australia and mainland China for leading international firms, Connie understands the key elements required for a successful cross-border transaction.

Connie's expertise, particularly in ports and terminals, real estate, mining and marine logistics projects adds to the breadth of expertise the practice offers its clients.
This announcement follows the appointment of Michael Wadley earlier this year as a consultant in the China Practice. Michael has lived and worked in China for over 17 years, providing business and tax advisory consulting services to foreign investors setting up in China and Chinese parties working with Australia and other offshore jurisdictions.
Connie is the fifth partner to join the legal practice in recent months. The practice recently welcomed employment and safety partners Megan Bowe and Sara McRostie, insurance partner Michelle Taylor and restructuring and insolvency partner Glen Williams.
