Colin Biggers & Paisley is pleased to announce that Corporate and Commercial Partner Andrew Logie-Smith has been appointed Chairman of the Board of the National Trust of Australia (Victoria).

Effective 1 March 2022, Andrew succeeds Kristin Stegley OAM, who stepped down after serving as Chairman for the past six years. Kristin will remain as a Board Director for the near future and will continue to assist and support the Trust.

"I am looking forward, with a great deal of enthusiasm, to our next chapter, with our attention being on setting a course that preserves the Trust and enhances its standing in the eyes of the community," Andrew said.

Andrew served as Company Secretary for the National Trust from February 2016 until his recent appointment to the Board in January 2022 as a Director. In his new role as Chairman, Andrew said he will focus on simplicity and teamwork to deliver outcomes.

"The gifts of education, a never-ending thirst for knowledge, a commitment to hard work and a drive to achieve outcomes have created many opportunities. I believe that clarity of direction is critical to achieve outcomes. Distilling the complex to the simple is key to good decision making and avoids meandering."

Andrew's 40 plus years of experience as a corporate and commercial lawyer, coupled with a passion to support the mission of the National Trust, will stand him in good stead as Chairman.

"At the very heart of the National Trust is its mission to inspire the community to appreciate, conserve and celebrate its diverse natural, cultural, social and Indigenous heritage. To achieve such a mission requires many things and without doubt, it cannot be achieved without the significant contribution of our members and volunteers prepared to commit time, vitality and passion to the welfare of the Trust.

"Our work also requires the energy of a robust Board and management operating on best practice principles underpinned by a strong financial platform."

Andrew is committed to framing the new three-five year Strategic Plan and evolution of the Trust.

"A key focus is likely to be repositioning the brand and image of the Trust with an emphasis on preserving and showcasing our preeminent properties for the Victorian community."
