I began my journey at Colin Biggers & Paisley as a graduate in February 2017 and in less than 12 was promoted to a Solicitor. As a graduate, I was able to rotate through different practice areas which exposed me to many interesting matters and allowed me to see how these areas collaborate across the practice.
One of the things I enjoy most about working at Colin Biggers & Paisley is the support and help I receive from my colleagues. The workplace culture is very friendly with a high importance placed on team work within and between practice areas. I have been exposed to many hands-on learning opportunities which has allowed me to see how my work fits into the bigger picture.
This team based culture is also extended to outside the office, with the opportunity to get involved in sports teams, competitions and social events. With a big emphasise placed on health and wellbeing, the lunchtime futsal competition is a great way for me to get out of the office, meet different people and enjoy some friendly competition.
Being given the opportunity to further my previous experience at the Land and Environment Court has really helped me shape my career in planning law. Making a successful adverse possession claim and obtaining title to that land for our client has been one of the highlights of my career.
Colin Biggers & Paisley also offers many pro bono opportunities. I enjoyed volunteering for Two Good’s Love Another Mother initiative last year, and I look forward to getting involved with the Marrickville Legal Centre and Refugee Advocacy Centre this year.
