Katrina Gillies is a special counsel in the insurance team.
Katrina has significant litigation, governance and compliance experience. She has a broad range of corporate, commercial and litigation expertise, and has appeared for government and banking clients on contractual disputes, taxation and insolvency litigation, as well as a broad range of defendant and plaintiff litigation.
Katrina's experience includes managing a major Australian church's response to, and legal matters arising from, the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. As senior legal adviser, she advised the church on national redress and the implementation and governance of child safety compliance, as well as internal claims, insurance and investigations.
Katrina holds a Master of Laws and a Master of Dispute Resolution. She was admitted to practice in 2007 and is an accredited mediator with the Resolution Institute. Katrina is also a lecturer of law, lecturing on a range of topics including ethics, advocacy skills and resilience.
