Mirabela Nickel restructure named as Insolvency and Restructuring Deal of the Year

9 June 2015
Colin Biggers & Paisley (CBP) has been recognised for its significant role in the deal that won the "Insolvency and Restructuring Deal of the Year" at the Australasian Law Awards held recently in Sydney.

The firm was recognised for its significant role in the Mirabela Nickel Limited restructure, led by Scott Hedge, a partner in the firm's restructuring and insolvency team.

Scott and his team acted for the administrator on this project. The deed of Company Arrangement led to the successful recapitalisation of Mirabela and its relisting on the ASX.

It is the second award Scott and his team have won on this matter. In September last year, the deal won the "Restructuring Deal of the Year" awarded by the Turnaround Management Association (TMA).

The deal was the first of its kind for a publicly listed company, with the court authorising the Deed Administrator to transfer shares in the company without shareholder consent as part of the recapitalisation and restructure of Mirabela.
