Leading mid-size law practice Colin Biggers & Paisley is pleased to announce their largest ever round of promotions, with 10 lawyers promoted to senior positions, including six females.

Effective 1 July, Claire Day has been promoted to partnership.

Claire Day joined Colin Biggers & Paisley in 2008 and is based in the Sydney office as a member of the Property & Development team. Claire has over 10 years' experience in the property industry including residential and commercial conveyancing involving large, complex strata and community title developments and has acted for retail landlords and tenants both large and small.

Amanda Cefai has been promoted to special counsel.

Amanda Cefai joined Colin Biggers & Paisley in the Sydney office in 2015. She has extensive experience working on a broad range of liability claims, with a focus on complex claims that regularly involve multiple defendant liability disputes, coverage disputes, dual insurance and recoveries.

Shannon Blain, Faith Laube, Jaye Smale, Luke Grayson, Bianca Hellwege, James Nicolson, Charlie Morshead and Laura Tulloch have all been appointed to senior associate.

Shannon Blain, Faith Laube and Jaye Smale have all been promoted to senior associate in the Sydney office. Shannon works on insurance litigation with expertise in professional indemnity, including coverage disputes and large scale construction, mining and engineering matters. Faith is part of the Construction & Engineering team focusing on advice on contractual interpretation issues, contractual compliance, matters of contract administration and preparation of construction documentation and related commercial agreements; and dispute resolution. Jaye is a member of the corporate and dispute Resolution team and has extensive experience acting on litigation concerning commercial, construction, property and general contract disputes before Tribunals and Courts including NSW, WA, and NT Supreme Courts and International Chamber of Commerce.

Luke Grayson, Bianca Hellwege and James Nicolson have been appointed to senior associate in the Brisbane office. Luke joined is as part of the construction and engineering team. His main area of focus is advising public and private sector clients on issues relating to planning, government, infrastructure and environmental law, including drafting planning scheme amendments for local government clients and preparing and advising on tailored development approvals strategies for development corporations. Bianca Hellwege is part of the property and development team and works on a broad range of commercial property work including leasing, large scale residential and mixed use developments, business sales and purchases and advisory work. James Nicolson is part of the Planning Government Infrastructure and Environment team in Brisbane. His main expertise includes providing strategic advice and legal representation to government and private entities in relation to planning, government, infrastructure, environment, and regulatory matters.

Charlie Morshead and Laura Tulloch have been appointed to senior associate in the Melbourne office in the insurance team. Charlie predominantly works on matters relating to professional indemnity claims, including acting for lawyers in both large-scale litigation and smaller claims. He also has expertise in alternative dispute resolution, assisting clients in the early resolution of their matters. Laura provides advice on liability, indemnity, policy matters and strategy, as well as preparing evidence and pleadings, briefing experts and managing litigation.

The announcement comes after the practice welcomed Michelle Taylor as a partner in their Brisbane transport and insurance team in June.
