Toby Norgate joins the legal practice's growing corporate and commercial team. He has more than 19 years' experience advising clients on a range of commercial activities with a particular focus on mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, financial services and franchising.

He has extensive experience advising clients in all aspects of their commercial activities, including involvement with the technology, transport and financial services industries.

Toby’s experience also includes the co-proprietorship of his own law firm and senior in-house counsel legal experience, including four years co-managing the legal and market supervision teams at the New Zealand Stock Exchange (NZX). This role gave him close involvement and insight into many of New Zealand’s biggest corporate transactions.

Managing Partner Nick Crennan welcomed Toby to the practice, making a particular note of his experience with securities and stock exchange regulators.

"The corporate and commercial team has been involved in a number of successful IPOs and ASX listings, including Ecofibre, arguably one of the most notable IPOs this year. Toby's understanding of the IPO process, coupled with his focus on capital raising, is invaluable to our clients who are looking for practical advice about how to raise money.

"We look forward with working with Toby as we continue to grow our corporate and commercial practice," Nick said.

Toby said he was delighted to be joining the partnership at Colin Biggers & Paisley.

"The practice's focus on building strong relationships with clients together with its culture of collaboration and innovation resonates with me. Today's businesses face a constantly changing environment shaped by technology, consumer preferences, politics and other forces. In this environment, I see many benefits for clients in being able to tap the deep expertise available across offices and teams."
