Colin Biggers & Paisley is continuing to expand its insurance team with the appointment of two Melbourne-based special counsels, Jessica Jansen and Hilary Stokes.

Jessica has extensive experience in advising on insurance claims, particularly professional indemnity, financial lines and institutional liability claims. Jessica has also advised on matters of financial services compliance and risk management and commercial and coverage disputes.

Hilary practises principally in professional indemnity insurance law, specifically defending claims against solicitors and barristers in which she has more than 10 years' experience. Hilary also advises in broader commercial litigation matters, for example disputes regarding joint ventures.

Cathryn Prowse, Co-Head of Insurance, said the appointments deepen Colin Biggers & Paisley's strong insurance offering, particularly in the areas of professional indemnity and institutional risk and liability.

"Jessica and Hilary are both terrific additions to the Insurance group. Their appointments have been made with our clients' needs front of mind, and like the other senior lawyers we have welcomed over the last 12 months, they will be instrumental in the delivery of first-rate legal services to  our clients and no-doubt foster growth in our focus areas."

Jessica said that she is pleased to be joining a practice that is known for the calibre of its insurance offering.

"I am excited to be joining the widely regarded team at Colin Biggers & Paisley. The team is a leader in the insurance space and the cultural fit is excellent. I look forward to working with the team and supporting our clients."

Hilary's experience in professional indemnity litigation and commercial litigation makes her well-equipped to deliver accurate and client-centred advice.

"Colin Biggers & Paisley's insurance team has a strong reputation in the market for their client focus," Hilary said.

"Their client focus aligns with my values and I am looking forward to working with Patrick Tuohey and the team in Melbourne."

This announcement follows the appointments of Senior Associate Azat Valiyff and Special Counsel April Campbell to the Insurance practice in Sydney.
