Emma Whitney Senior Associate

Emma Whitney is a senior associate in the planning and environment team. Emma has extensive experience in state and local government, environmental and planning law.

Emma's experience includes advising on planning, property and development matters for staged large-scale development projects, commercial, mixed-use, tourist facilities and residential developments. She also advises on compliance with environmental legislation, state planning and local government planning controls. Her work with local government clients includes advising on the drafting of voluntary planning agreements, employment contracts and disputes, council code of conduct disputes and compliance with the Local Government Act 1993 requirements.

Emma advises state and local governments, corporate and commercial clients, as well as property developers and mining corporations. She represents these clients in merit appeals, civil enforcement proceedings and criminal prosecutions.

In addition to her Bachelor of Laws, Emma holds a Bachelor of Science. She is a member of the Environment and Planning Law Association NSW, Women Lawyers Association of NSW and the Law Society of NSW.

Emma was admitted to practice in 2002. She joined Colin Biggers & Paisley in 2016.
