Michael Wadley is a consultant in Colin Biggers & Paisley's China Practice
. He provides business and tax advisory consulting services with a strong legal grounding to foreign investors setting up in China and Chinese parties working with Australia and other offshore jurisdictions.
He has lived and worked in China for over 17 years, and before that practiced in Australia for over 20 years. Michael provides corporate advisory and legal services to foreign investors throughout China and to Chinese investors investing offshore. He advises clients on a range of general corporate, commercial and governance matters and on legal issues including corporate governance, compliance, employment law, taxation, foreign acquisitions and investment as well as commercial aspects of the client’s relevant business.
Michael's clients range from SME’s through to global listed companies. He has assisted several hundred Australian, Chinese and foreign businesses to establish and manage operations in China and Australia. He has worked with Australian and Chinese Federal and State Government trade agencies and speaks regularly to interest groups on strategies for doing business with China.
He has extensive industry experience in the fields of mining, real estate, education and professional services, textile and general manufacturing, agribusiness, processed food and other consumer products plus investment consultancy. He has advised on business ventures, start-up companies and mergers and acquisitions.
He has a Bachelor of Laws. He is admitted to practice in Supreme Court of Queensland (1984), and the High Court and Federal Court of Australia (1997).He was registered as both a Foreign lawyer in China (2001) and Foreign lawyer in Hong Kong (2004). Michael joined Colin Biggers & Paisley in 2017.
