Tegen Downes is a senior associate in the employment and safety team. She has broad experience representing, advising and assisting clients with workplace relations matters.

Tegen's practice areas include employee misconduct, poor performance, ill and injured workers, dismissals, contracts, policies and compliance with workplace laws and instruments. She represents employers and insurers in a variety of workplace claims, including unfair dismissal, general protections, discrimination, wages and contractual claims. She also has experience conducting workplace investigations and workplace training.

In addition, Tegen has a particular interest in health and safety and regulatory law. She provides tailored compliance and risk management advice to clients and helps clients manage safety incidents, including internal and regulator investigations. She also assists clients with enforcement action, including compliance notices, prosecutions and enforceable undertakings.

Tegen was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2011. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in addition to her Bachelor of Laws (Honours I), and completed a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Queensland University of Technology. Tegen joined Colin Biggers & Paisley in 2016.
