Mark is a senior associate in the planning and environment team.
Mark has a broad commercial and property background adding versatility to his extensive planning and environmental experience. His areas of focus include development appeals, environmental prosecutions, project documentation, biodiversity and NSW planning law.
Mark's commercial experience is in business sales and purchases, leasing and general commercial advice. In the planning space, his experience includes assisting developers negotiating the NSW planning regime and negotiating with local councils, as well as assisting local councils with prosecutions and significant contamination and contentious land dedication matters.
Outside of law, Mark owned and operated a successful café business in China and Taiwan for eight years, which involved negotiating joint venture deals and licensing arrangements with Chinese investors. He speaks Mandarin Chinese and has a thorough understanding of the Chinese market.
Mark has expertise in foreign direct investment, projects, real estate acquisitions and development, and joint ventures. One of the positions he held prior to joining Colin Biggers & Paisley was as team leader of Chinese real estate investment at a major international law firm.
Mark holds a Master of Environmental Law and a Bachelor of Economics and Law. He recently held the position of Vice President of the Australia Chinese Business Council in the ACT.
