Leading commercial law practice Colin Biggers & Paisley is delighted to announce its plans to transform its Melbourne and Sydney offices and move its Brisbane office to new premises at 300 George Street - in the heart of the Brisbane CBD.

The ambitious multimillion-dollar plan to simultaneously rebuild and transform three offices across different states highlights the firm's determination and commitment to reshape the workplace for the future and invest in the growth of the practice. This is underpinned by an unwavering commitment to addressing clients challenges and opportunities, which will be enhanced by spaces designed for collaboration and connectivity.

Through mergers and a vision for growth, Colin Biggers & Paisley has evolved from a NSW mid tier firm in Sydney to a national legal practice. It has built on its core insurance, property and construction base, and expanded into key growth industries including aged care, education, faith-based enterprise, government and transport and logistics to cement its place as a leading national practice.

Commenting on the plans, Colin Biggers & Paisley Managing Partner Nick Crennan said the close timing of the expiry of the leases in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, presented the practice with a unique opportunity to build a workplace that supports how our teams work now and how they envision working in the future.

"We aim to create workspaces that truly reflect the needs of our teams, both now and in the future. These spaces will be thoughtfully designed, with abundant natural light, incorporating elements like quiet areas, a dedicated wellness room, a vibrant hub for our people to enjoy a coffee and a bite to eat, and versatile collaboration areas.

We believe that our investment in the workplace is integral to our market position and ability to attract top talent. It's a priority for Colin Biggers & Paisley to build on our workplace culture that inspires innovation, collaboration, and growth. This commitment to providing an exceptional experience for our team reflects our dedication to delivering outstanding results for our clients and achieving sustainable success in today's competitive landscape."

Across the three offices Colin Biggers & Paisley's receptions, client and guest meeting rooms will be redesigned and incorporate state-of-the-art AV, technology and infrastructure for seamless connectivity.

"We're investing in state-of-the art AV, technology and systems and platforms to support our people and our clients as we work in different environments, whether it's in the office, at home, in our client's offices, or while we're travelling."

The modern workspace, designed by the renowned global architectural firm Woods Bagot, will be enhanced by a thoughtfully curated collection of artwork, including pieces from the Hermannsburg Potters group in the Northern Territory, showcasing First Nations artwork.

Hermannsburg Potters group is a key Reconciliation Action Plan partner of the Colin Biggers & Paisley Foundation.

Working closely with the designers and builders, where possible, the practice is reusing building materials and repurposing furniture items.

Brisbane

Located in the heart of the CBD in the George Street precinct, the building offers sweeping views of the CBD and the Brisbane River and is within minutes of rail, ferry and bus service and the Supreme and District Courts.

Colin Biggers & Paisley is delighted to work collaboratively with Shayher Group, the developers of the new office in Brisbane and an important client of the practice, on the project.

Shayher Group who developed the Brisbane CBD's first true mixed-use, urban development comprising Brisbane Quarter, 300 George, The ONE and W Brisbane, is delighted to welcome new tenants Colin Biggers & Paisley Lawyers to its commercial office tower.

General Manager, Jacqueline Kinloch commented:

"We are thrilled to have Colin Biggers & Paisley Lawyers as one of our tenants in the 300 George St tower as part of the Brisbane Quarter precinct. Colin Biggers & Paisley plans to relocate from Waterfront Place, 1 Eagle St upon completion of the fitout in August 2023. The practice takes a nine year lease for 1,953 square metres across levels 34 and 35.

The new office will reopen in September.

Melbourne

For almost ten years, Colin Biggers & Paisley's Melbourne office has been located at 181 William Street, a prime location in Melbourne's CBD.

A merger with Melbourne-based commercial practice Logie-Smith Lanyon in November 2021 saw the legal practice welcome more than 30 staff, including six new partners. In 2022, David Passarella joined as a planning partner, and in 2023, Adam Foster joined as employment and safety partner. As the practice grew, there arose a greater need for collaborative spaces where teams could effectively address client issues and connect across teams. The new design facilitates these objectives.

181 William St is owned and managed by GPT.

Martin Ritchie, Head of Office at GPT, commented:

“GPT has a long track-record in providing space to accommodate modern ways of working, and have an aligned understanding with Colin Biggers & Paisley about the importance of bringing together innovative workplace design and exceptional experiences to drive a thriving workforce and business success.
