A senior associate in the insurance team since 2023, Sam's practice focuses on helping domestic and international insurer clients with dispute resolution and insurance matters. Sam has a particular interest in alternative dispute resolution and litigation matters.

Sam has expertise in complex litigation, including recovery and defence, property damage, financial lines (including fraud investigation, mitigation, and recovery), professional indemnity and construction, travel, policy interpretation disputes, and personal injury.

He regularly advises on general commercial litigation matters beyond the insurance practice group involving defence in regulatory prosecutions, defamation proceedings, shareholder disputes, restraint of trade applications, and international commercial arbitrations.

Sam has also represented domestic and international insurers in general, coverage and indemnity disputes. Sam regularly appears with and without Counsel in the High Court of Australia, Federal Court of Australia, Queensland Court of Appeal, Supreme Court of Queensland, District Court of Queensland, and Magistrates Court of Queensland.

Sam holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons), a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, and a Master of Laws from Queensland University of Technology. He is undertaking a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) at the Queensland University of Technology, School of Law. Sam was admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland on 1 August 2016 and to the High Court of Australia on 26 October 2016.

Outside of Colin Biggers & Paisley, Sam enjoys travel and cooking and is keenly interested in classical music, opera, and fine wines.
