Dr. Andrew Murray newly appointed Managing Partner, effective 1 October 2025.
National law practice Colin Biggers & Paisley announces the appointment of Dr. Andrew Murray as Managing Partner, effective 1 October 2025. Murray will assume the Managing Partner role from Nick Crennan, who has successfully led the practice since 2017 and will conclude in his leadership role on 30 September 2025.
Murray has served as Deputy Managing Partner over the past year, working closely with Crennan in a considered and strategic succession plan, ensuring continuity of leadership and alignment with the practice's long-term vision.
During his tenure as Managing Partner, Crennan has played a pivotal role in shaping Colin Biggers & Paisley’s national presence. Under his leadership, the practice has successfully navigated complex economic cycles, a global pandemic and a rapidly evolving legal landscape, entering its 125th year with resilience and clarity of purpose.
Commenting on the transition Crennan noted:
“It has been a privilege to lead Colin Biggers & Paisley through a period of significant growth and transformation. I’m proud of the strong, values-led culture we’ve cultivated and the enduring relationships we’ve built with our clients, colleagues and communities.”
“Andrew’s appointment signals a new chapter for Colin Biggers & Paisley, one that builds on our legacy while embracing the opportunities ahead. His deep understanding of our clients’ needs, our people and the broader community makes him exceptionally well-placed to lead the next phase of our journey.”
Having joined the practice in 2010 in the Construction & Engineering team, Murray became a Partner in 2016 and has since played a pivotal role in shaping the practice's strategic direction, culture and client relationships.
Murray’s leadership is grounded in a deep commitment to people and purpose. He has co-chaired the Pride@CBP group, served on the inclusion and diversity leadership team, chaired the partner promotion interview panel and led graduate recruitment initiatives. His contributions to the practice's learning and development programs reflect a belief in nurturing talent and fostering a culture of excellence.
“I am honoured to lead Colin Biggers & Paisley into its next chapter. Today, we are more than just lawyers - we are strategic partners, problem-solvers and drivers of progress, committed to building a stronger future for our clients, colleagues and communities.” said Murray.
"On behalf of the practice I extend our gratitude to Nick for his legacy of growth, strength and cohesion, which have laid a remarkable foundation for our continued success. This year marks our practice's 125th anniversary. It is a reminder that by staying true to our values, by building on our deep industry and sector expertise and by prioritising innovation and client experience, we will not only uphold our legacy but continue to empower our people and support the aspirations of our clients in the years to come.”
Recognised consistently among Australia’s top construction and engineering lawyers by leading directories including Best Lawyers, The Legal 500 and Doyle’s Guide and having enjoyed a career that also encompassed practice in the areas of commercial litigation, insolvency and insurance, Andrew brings both technical expertise and a values-led approach to leadership.
This appointment coincides with Colin Biggers & Paisley’s refreshed strategic focus as the practice embraces its 125th year and reflects a continued commitment to clarity, collaboration and client impact, principles that Murray has long championed.
