Bert is a senior associate in Colin Biggers & Paisley’s Insurance team. He has broad experience acting across a variety of claims in New South Wales, Western Australia and Federal jurisdictions.
Overview
Bert acts for insurers and their insureds as both defence and coverage counsel in disputes across a broad range of industries. He understands the importance of each stakeholder involved in an insurance dispute and takes a pragmatic approach where appropriate.
Bert has diverse experience representing accountants, company directors and officers, publicly listed entities, architects, builders, boat builders, engineers, government agencies, mining companies and contractors, medical practitioners and many others in claims involving directors' and officers' liability, professional negligence, contractual disputes, misleading trade practices, personal injury and workplace safety regulations. He regularly advises insurers in complex class action shareholder coverage disputes involving layered insurance arrangements. He also has experience in subrogated recovery claims and advising his clients in respect of arbitration proceedings.
Bert was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Western Australia in October 2020. He holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance / Management) from the University of Notre Dame Australia (Fremantle).
