David Miller is a partner in both the insurance and the corporate teams at Colin Biggers & Paisley. Widely regarded as one of Australia's leading lawyers in asbestos-related matters, David is a regular speaker in Australia and overseas on indemnity and claims management issues. His Masters of Law included significant work on the question of causation and the use of epidemiological evidence in asbestos cases.
David is also experienced in corporate governance and risk management (including regulator actions involving the ACCC and various WorkCover authorities), Australian Consumer Law issues and commercial disputes.
During 2014 David acted for various parties called to give evidence before the NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption in Operation Credo and Operation Spicer. He continues to provide advice to clients in ICAC related matters.
As a former in-house counsel, David is acutely aware of the reputational and financial risks which can arise when a claim is made and works with his clients to proactively address those aspects of the dispute resolution process.
In the 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 editions of Best Lawyers in Australia, David was listed as a leading insurance lawyer. He was also listed as a leading product liability lawyer in the 2017 edition.
David was admitted to practice in NSW and Federal courts in 2000. He sits on the Professional Conduct Committee and the Ethics Committee of the Law Society of NSW. David is also a member of the Human Research Ethics Committee of the Sydney-based Centre for Digestive Diseases.
