Senior Associate

Emily is a senior associate in Colin Biggers & Paisley’s Insurance team, specialising in employment, workplace health and safety (WHS) and statutory liability matters. Her practice is underpinned by broad litigation experience and a strong background in regulatory, payroll and employer compliance.


Overview

Emily acts for employers and insurers in employment and insurance disputes, WHS prosecutions and regulatory investigations, bringing a practical and commercially informed approach to complex claims.

Emily has practised across a range of other legal areas, including commercial, criminal, family, wealth protection and estates. This breadth of experience supports her ability to manage multifaceted insurance matters involving regulatory exposure and risk management, including advising on employer compliance, payroll practices and underpayment risks. 

Her work regularly involves matters arising under the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (NSW) and Heavy Vehicle National Law 2017 (NSW), including director and officer liability.  

Emily has volunteered with Redfern Legal Centre since July 2020, assisting vulnerable workers with employment matters and continues this work alongside her practice. 

Emily was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of New South Wales in June 2018 and the High Court of Australia in November 2018. She holds a Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Arts and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice, including a Certificate of Business Skills and has completed the Legal Practice Management Course.
