A partner in Colin Biggers & Paisley’s Brisbane Construction & Engineering team, Kayla advises on both transactional and contentious construction matters, helping clients manage projects from procurement and contract drafting through to project delivery and completion, as well as advising on all forms of dispute resolution.
Overview
Kayla Causer has broad experience across front-end and back-end construction matters, giving her a practical understanding of how legal, commercial and project delivery issues intersect across the project lifecycle. She advises on contract drafting, administration and interpretation and provides strategic legal and commercial guidance on projects across Australia.
Kayla’s experience spans both the private and public sectors, providing a strong understanding of differing risk profiles, governance requirements and delivery drivers. In addition, her industry secondment experience has also given her direct insight into how project and commercial teams operate within client organisations.
Kayla has worked across a range of procurement and delivery models and is known for clear, practical advice that supports decision-making at each stage of a project. Alongside her front-end practice, she brings capability in arbitral proceedings, adjudications and alternative dispute resolution processes including expert determination.
Kayla was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia on 10 October 2016. She holds a Bachelor of Laws from Queensland University of Technology.
