Mitchell is a Senior Associate at Colin Biggers & Paisley, with close to a decade of experience in insurance litigation. He acts for Australian and London market underwriters, third-party administrators and self-insureds in complex liability claims, coverage disputes, recovery actions and related litigation.
Overview
Mitchell’s practice is principally focused on casualty matters, including injury liability, property damage and major loss claims. He also has experience in professional indemnity, contract works disputes and coverage issues arising under industrial special risks policies.
He advises clients throughout the full lifecycle of a claim, including on policy response, liability, quantum, contribution and recovery. His matters frequently involve significant financial exposures, multiple parties and extensive expert evidence.
Mitchell takes a practical and commercially focused approach. He works closely with clients to identify the key legal and factual issues at an early stage and develop clear strategies for the effective and efficient resolution of disputes.
Mitchell was admitted to practise in the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2017 and the High Court of Australia in 2019. He holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Queensland University of Technology.
