Mitchell specialises in insurance and commercial litigation. His core practice areas include financial institutions, professional indemnity, and directors’ and officers’ liability.
Overview
Mitchell advises Australian and London market insurers on contentious coverage issues, with a particular focus on financial lines insurance. He has acted on some of Australia's most significant coverage disputes, including shareholder class actions, regulatory investigations and proceedings, and large-scale remediation programs.
Alongside his coverage practice, Mitchell is an experienced commercial litigator. He has successfully defended a wide range of claims brought against companies and individuals in the financial services and construction sectors.
Mitchell was admitted to practice in the High Court of New Zealand in July 2020 and the Supreme Court of New South Wales in July 2022. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Finance) from the University of Auckland.
