Shannon Blain

Overview

Shannon is an integral member of our Technology & Data team and a senior member of our cyber incident response team. He has experience managing cyber breaches across four separate cyber insurance facilities and has successfully manage cyber incidents involving ransomware attacks, social engineering fraud, unlawful access and malware attacks. His experienced is enhanced by his time on secondment at a large international insurance company where he managed cyber claims and delt with related coverage issues, giving him an inside view of what is important to insurers during these events. 

Shannon also provides advice and manages litigation for a wide range of leading Australian insurers, the London market and various Australian cover holders and agents of the London market.

Shannon has acted in defence of claims against various professionals in the technology, construction, mining, property and professional services sectors, including on behalf of engineers, architects, project managers, private certifiers, valuers, real estate agents, accountants and receivers.

He regularly advises insurers of their rights and obligations under insurance policies in relation to property losses, professional indemnity, third party damage, and project specific claims. These analyses often involve consideration of complex contractual and tortious matters.

With a Bachelor of Communication (Public Relations) in addition to his Bachelor of Laws, Shannon was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of NSW on 5 April 2013 and is also admitted in the Federal Court and High Court of Australia.

An active participant in the Australian insurance industry, Shannon is a national committee member of the Australian Professional Indemnity Group and the Australian Insurance Law Association.
