Patrick Monahan is the Group Head of the Insurance Group.

Patrick is regarded as one of Australia’s leading lawyers in the area of professional indemnity insurance and directors' and officers' liability insurance, representing company directors, solicitors, barristers, accountants, auditors, insurance brokers, stockbrokers, estate agents and other professionals, as well as their insurers. He also acts regularly for banks and financial institutions on the instructions of their insurers. His practice also includes representing various church bodies.

Patrick's expertise includes dispute resolution and litigation, in particular involving financial services, professional negligence, insurance litigation, commercial litigation and defamation. He acts for financial institutions, insurers and underwriters at Lloyd’s and internationally.

Patrick also acts as counsel assisting various professional boards in conducting disciplinary hearings. He frequently speaks at conferences on insurance and reinsurance topics throughout Australia and has been published in many professional journals.

Patrick was admitted to practice in South Africa in 1978 and in Victoria in 1987.
