The software development team at Colin Biggers & Paisley Lawyers has won the award for Legal IT Team of the Year (Large Firm category) in the Lawtech Awards 2014, held at QT Hotel on the Gold Coast on 11-12 September 2014.

The team was able to deliver the new Elite 3E practice management system in just three months, streamlining client and matter opening and eliminating the end of month billing bottleneck. The new system gives up-to-the-minute access to reports and data analysis and enables better governance of CBP Lawyers' practice.

Chris Latta, chief information officer, explained the significance of what his team had achieved: "Our team managed to deliver a complex, business-changing system in an unheard of timeframe. Most firms take eighteen months to two years for this project. The fastest we had heard about before this was nine months. It's an extraordinary feat by all who were involved."

Managing partner Dunstan de Souza expressed his delight with the firm's high placing in the Lawtech Awards: "Winning Legal IT Team of the Year in the Large Firm category is a fantastic achievement. We know our people are good, but because we see them every day, sometimes we forget just how good they are. It's wonderful that the team has received this external recognition to remind us that they really are ahead of the pack.

"It's also particularly relevant for us to remember that what gives our lawyers the opportunity to shine is the excellence of the systems that support them. I warmly congratulate all members of our software development team on this outstanding result."
