Colin Biggers & Paisley is continuing to strengthen its national team with the appointment of Jemma McLaughlin as a special counsel in the Insurance Group and Jon Na as a senior associate in the Construction group, as well as the promotion of Patrick Smith to senior associate in the Disputes & Investigations team.

Jemma McLaughlin returns to the practice to focus on professional indemnity litigation. She has experience defending claims for a wide range of professionals and organisations, with a particular focus on health practitioners, drawing on her experience gained as a physiotherapist prior to her legal career. Jemma's broad experience spans general liability, product liability, property damage and subrogated recoveries, as well as commercial and aviation litigation.

Jon Na's practice focuses on construction disputes involving the management of proceedings in the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal as well as adjudication and Tribunal proceedings. Jon brings extensive experience in managing security of payment claims and prosecuting and defending complex court proceedings. He is skilled in providing commercial and practical solutions tailored to the needs of his developer and contractor clients.

Patrick Smith effectively utilises his background in accounting and front-end commercial law, to navigate complex legal disputes and work in collaboration with his clients to identify strategies to reach the best resolution. Patrick has experience conducting and defending litigation in jurisdictions across Australia, and acting for creditors and stakeholders in liquidations and bankruptcies.
