Ben Zhao

Overview

Through his practice, Ben regularly advises on contentious coverage issues across a wide array of financial lines and specialty claims as well as in defence of directors, officers, professional service firms and insurers in high-value claims involving financial loss and allegations of professional wrongdoing.

Working closely with insurer and reinsurer clients, Ben provides strategic and practical advice throughout the lifecycle of a dispute, from early coverage assessment and risk management through to litigation and resolution. His litigation experience spans proceedings in state and federal courts, as well as regulatory investigations and commercial disputes involving corporations, insolvency, shareholder issues and property-related matters.

Having practised in both Australia and London, Ben regularly works with both Australian and international insurers and has experience advising on cross-border and multi-jurisdiction insurance matters. He is committed to providing clear, commercially focused guidance that helps clients navigate complex jurisdictional, legal and regulatory challenges with confidence.

Ben was admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales in February 2021 and the High Court of Australia in May 2021.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts (Criminology and International Business) from Macquarie University.
