Samala Nancarrow is a special counsel in the insurance team. Her practice focuses on workers' compensation, public liability personal injury claims, dust diseases and historical abuse claims.
Samala has extensive experience in workers' compensation claims with a thorough knowledge of the legislative framework, including the Accident Compensation Act 1985 and Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013.
Samala acts on behalf of self-insured corporations in all aspects of WorkCover claims management, from the receipt of claims and the making of a liability determination to the defence of common law proceedings. She provides advice with respect to third-party recovery potential.
She also acts for public liability insurers in regard to negligence claims brought against their insured clients, as well as occupiers' liability and product liability. She advises on indemnity, dust disease injuries and third-party recovery claims.
Samala holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Victoria in 2008. She joined Colin Biggers & Paisley in 2019.
