Colin Biggers & Paisley is pleased to announce the appointments of special counsels Laura Reisz and Emily Yin, and senior associates David Kim and Ingrid Lehmann to its insurance team. 

Laura, who re-joins the practice, provides advice in relation to, and acts as defence and coverage counsel in, claims against directors and officers, and professional indemnity claims, and construction risk. She has substantial experience in professional indemnity claims, acting for a range of professionals with a particular focus on the financial services industry and the building and construction industry.

Emily has over 15 years' experience in insurance law, with a focus on financial institutions, directors and officers, professional indemnity and other financial lines insurances. Emily's practice incorporates both coverage and monitoring advice to insurers, as well as defence of litigated claims.  

David is a skilled practitioner of contentious insurance matters in professional indemnity, product and public liability (including catastrophic claims), property damage, and warranty and indemnity insurance. He also assists clients with non-contentious insurance matters, including reviewing policy wordings and advising on the insurance aspects of any due diligence required for corporate M&A, energy and real estate transactions.

Ingrid has more than ten years' experience in insurance law, with a particular focus on professional indemnity. Her experience includes reviewing policy wordings and advising underwriters on indemnity, including the application of the Insurance Contracts Act 1984 (Cth), issues of non-disclosure, prior known claims and circumstances, fraud, and whether the claim occurred in the conduct of the professional services.

This appointment follows our recent announcement of our latest round of promotions, with eleven lawyers appointed to senior positions. Effective 1 January 2021, Jane O'Neill has been promoted to partner, Alistair Boughton, Tim Coghlan, Jean-Paul Fraticelli, John McGirr and Alexandra Terrill have been promoted to special counsel, and Madeleine Copley, Courtney Macdade, Natasha Messing, Maryanne Pollifrone and Nelson Ridges have been promoted to senior associate. It also follows our announcement that partner Kate Craig had been appointed to jointly lead the practice's corporate and dispute resolution team, and partner Cathryn Prowse to jointly lead our insurance team.
