Jane O'Neill

Jane O'Neill is a special counsel in the insurance team with more than 13 years' experience as an insurance solicitor. 

Jane advises clients in regard to insurance products and coverage issues, particularly professional indemnity and management liability policies, the management of claims, policy drafting and review, regulatory and risk management, and financial services. She also represents clients in contentious coverage disputes and acts as defence counsel in litigated claims.

Jane acts for insurers and policyholders across a broad range of industries and jurisdictions. She has represented leading domestic and foreign insurers in relation to litigated coverage disputes in the District Court and Supreme Court of NSW and has acted and advised in relation to claims against a wide range of professionals, including construction professionals, engineers, financial planners, accountants, real estate agents, IT professionals and real estate agents.  

Jane's experience includes drafting insurance products, including policy wording, extensions and endorsements. She regularly presents seminars and papers on risk management and compliance issues, as well as key developments in insurance law.

In 2020 Jane was recognised in The Best Lawyers in Australia as a leading insurance lawyer.

Jane is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Western Australia and New South Wales, and the High Court of Australia. She joined Colin Biggers & Paisley in 2017.
