A senior associate in the insurance team since 2022, Azat's areas of expertise include financial institutions and directors and officers insurance, as well as professional indemnity insurance.

Azat has extensive experience in insurance litigation focusing on professional indemnity and D&O litigation, complex coverage claims, cyber litigation, employment practices and life insurance.

Azat advises insurers on coverage matters including shareholder class actions against major financial institutions and consumer class actions, as well as advising insurers in respect of regulatory investigations and proceedings (including ASIC and APRA). He regularly advises insurers on the Corporations Act, Superannuation Act, ASIC Act and Insurance Contracts Act obligations and duties.
Azat has expertise in cyber incident response and claims, including advising ASX20 clients on their obligations under the Privacy Act and drafting notifications to insurers.

Azat also has experience in cyber litigation and recoveries, employment practices and employment law, as well as life insurance claims, including guidance to life insurers regarding their regulatory duties and obligations.

In addition to his Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice, Azat holds a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Finance from Flinders University. He was admitted to the Supreme Court of South Australia in 2016 and is also admitted to practice in the High Court of Australia.
