John Douglas is a special counsel in the property and development team.
John has over 18 years' experience in commercial property law, with specific expertise in commercial, industrial and retail leasing as well as property acquisition and disposal.
He has acted for a broad range of clients, including listed global companies as tenants, high net wealth private corporation landlords with substantial landholdings, real estate investment trust landlords and Commonwealth and State government departments (as both tenants and landlords).
John has consistently acted for both landlords and tenants throughout his career, which has enabled him to have a deep understanding of leasing transactions from the different perspectives. This has ensured that his advice in a leasing transaction is both thorough and commercial in approach.
John is listed in the 2024 edition of The Best Lawyers in Australia for his expertise in Real Property Law.
John has been admitted to practise in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory. He holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Education degree, in addition to his Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree.
