Phil focuses on providing his clients clear strategic advice and direction on complex professional indemnity (PI) claims. He has particular expertise defending construction industry and legal professionals, as well as medical professionals, real estate agents, strata managers, mortgage and insurance brokers and financial services professionals.
Overview
Phil's construction insurance experience includes acting in claims arising under annual and project specific PI policies. He has defended D&C contractors, engineers, architects, building surveyors, building owners and property developers in significant building and project disputes.
He also defends workplace health and safety prosecutions for construction companies and suppliers, and acts in matters before compliance and disciplinary boards for construction professionals.
Phil acts in large, multi-party litigated disputes throughout Australia, including as defence counsel and as coverage counsel in class actions.
Phil is listed in the 2025 edition of The Best Lawyers in Australia for Insurance Law. He is also a member of the Victorian Committee of the Australian Professional Indemnity Group.
Philip completed a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Melbourne and holds a Master of Conflict Resolution, Law from La Trobe University. Philip was admitted to practice in Victoria on 15 December 2009.
