Colin Biggers & Paisley has secured leading insurance partner Jennifer Robbins into its Brisbane office. Jennifer joins the practice with her highly experienced team of insurance lawyers, further strengthening its financial institutions and directors & officers (D&O) offering, reflecting strong market appetite for specialist advice on complex insurance coverage and financial lines matters across Australia and London.

The appointment follows the practice's addition in late 2024 of Patrick Boardman and his team, together reinforcing a deliberate strategy to deepen financial lines and complex insurance coverage and defence capability in response to sustained client demand.

Jennifer is an experienced commercial litigator and complex insurance coverage specialist with over 15 years' experience. She brings with her extensive specialist knowledge focusing on claims involving financial lines, financial institutions, D&O liability and professional indemnity.

Andrew Murray, Managing Partner at Colin Biggers & Paisley, said the appointments reflect the continued evolution of its national Insurance practice.

“The strength and growth of our Insurance practice has been built deliberately over time, grounded in deep sector expertise and long‑standing client relationships,” Murray said.

“Expanding our national insurance capability through senior and strategic hires is a natural step for the practice, ensuring we are well positioned to support clients as the insurance landscape continues to mature and evolve".

Joining Jennifer at Colin Biggers & Paisley are team members including leading special counsel Mitchell Jensen, senior associate Tommy Evans and solicitor Matthew Ellish.

Jennifer's significant efforts advising clients on emerging risks and regulatory developments in financial technology complements the existing capabilities of the practice and continued investment in this sector of focus.

Gavin Creighton, Insurance Practice Group Co-Lead, commented,

“Jennifer’s appointment, alongside the addition of several highly regarded insurance practitioners, adds further depth to our Insurance practice and continues to strengthen the expertise, scale and capability of our national offering across complex insurance coverage and financial lines matters”.

Speaking about her new role, Jennifer said she was drawn to the practice's strong reputation.

"Colin Biggers & Paisley is well respected across the insurance legal market for its work with both Australian and London market insurers. I am thrilled to be joining a team that is committed to client excellence and delivery of outcome focused legal solutions".

Jennifer commented that the move was a natural fit for her practice and the clients she advises.

"I am looking forward to collaborating with a team of highly skilled legal professionals in the Insurance group in my areas of focus, including insurance partners Patrick Cavanagh, Keith Bethlehem, Patrick Boardman, Michael Russell and the outstanding team working alongside them".

Also further strengthening the insurance practice is the recent arrival of senior associates Bert Smallbone and Emily Wittig and solicitor Patrick Wallis. The announcement follows the recent appointment of Colin Biggers & Paisleys Sydney based, Head of Pro Bono, Rebecca Dominguez, reinforcing the practice’s enduring commitment to pro bono work and community impact. Rebecca brings more than 20 years’ experience in human rights, access to justice and law reform.
