Patrick has experience acting in professional indemnity and general liability claims, and regularly advises insurers on coverage and other policy issues. Patrick's approach is to consider both sides of each claim in order to develop a strategy that works towards a speedy and cost-effective resolution.
Overview
Patrick has defended a broad range of professionals as both coverage and defence counsel. He acts for a wide range of professionals, including allied health practitioners, barristers, engineers, design & construct contractors, insurance brokers, mortgage brokers and accountants defending both claims for damages as well as investigations or disciplinary proceedings by the applicable regulatory agencies.
In the casualty space, Patrick has experience in medical negligence, workers' compensation, public liability and motor vehicle accident claims. His experience includes both pursuing and defending injury claims for sub-contractors and third parties occurring on or in connection with construction sites and infrastructure.
Patrick has acted in range of matters relating to complex property damage matters (under both general liability and professional liability policies), caused by allegedly defective design, installation, repair, maintenance and demolition activities. His experience includes providing indemnity advice to Insurers, defending claims and pursuing subrogated recovery actions on behalf of Insurers.
Patrick also acts for insurers on a number of first and third party cyber-crime and employee fraud claims (including recovery proceedings) as well as for life insurers advising on policy coverage, and defending claims made under group policies issued to superannuation funds.
Since first appearing in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in 2026, he has been listed since in The Best Lawyers in Australia for his expertise in Personal Injury Litigation, Insurance Law and Professional Malpractice Litigation.
Patrick holds a Bachelor of Laws. He was admitted to practice in Queensland on 14 July 2014 and the High Court of Australia in 2016.
